Description
A fragrant memory from the Swiss Alps.
Astier de Villatte’s Grand Chalet Incense transports you to a peaceful Alpine village, where the painter Balthus once lived and worked in a vast wooden chalet surrounded by ancient linden trees. The air there is soft and sunlit — scented with warm milk, golden honey, and the delicate citrusy breath of linden blossoms drifting through open windows. Designed with Setsuko Klossowska de Rola and Françoise Caron, this incense blends mimosa, myrtle, bergamot, heliotrope, sandalwood, and musk into a tender, luminous composition that feels nostalgic, comforting, and quietly serene.
Handmade on Japan’s Awaji Island — birthplace of the world’s finest incense — each stick is crafted using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Natural woods, resins, and botanicals are kneaded, shaped, and dried in the island’s ocean wind, yielding incense with remarkable purity and depth.
A box contains 125 sticks, each offering 30 minutes of warm, atmospheric burn.
