GOLD - (Au) 2022 Using 24k gold leaf, the identity of “Au” lies within the bricking pattern and uniformity which is smoother and softer than its silver counter piece. The precious metal series is backed by concepts of identity, uniformity, and worth. Fully realized and executed over the course of a year, the precious metals work became a mental and physical challenge for the artist that as a therapeutic endeavor as well for the artist. Teaching lessons on process, patience, and persistence. Each square leaf is individually placed and laid upon a size base after a time sensitive drying period. In all, its takes one sitting of nearly 7 hours to apply the leaf without stopping otherwise risking uniformity. |
| COMPOSITION Recycled EPS, fiberglass, resin and 24K yellow gold leaf; the work’s scale forces its audience to draw on references from both the Light and Space and Finish Fetish movements. |
