Unlock more vanity space with Natureofthings Founder JP Collett
Today’s focus: the valuable real estate known as your bathroom counter. In particular, that middle space shared with your partner that should technically have your name on it, and yours alone, are we right?
Enter Natureofthings, a modern wellness house rooted in the enduring wisdom of nature, created by Newport Beach native JP Collett. JP stopped by the store to try on the latest men’s clothing and shoes from Jil Sander, Massimo Alba and Second Layer. We took full advantage of our time together to get the scoop on how he and his business partner Jamie Leilani Pelayo reinvented the beauty market.
Natureofthings has created everyday staples beautifully designed to sit in the middle of the vanity. JP and Jamie founded the skincare company with the intention of creating a unisex brand from scratch that didn’t sacrifice quality ingredients, fragrance, packaging, and customer experience for the sake of mass production. All of the skincare products in Natureofthings are made with plants and minerals from the earth and are void of harmful chemicals and toxins. Natureofthings strives for treatment with a purpose, rather than being a line that follows a surface level brand narrative. In an industry that values mass manufacturing and pretty labels over wellness and integrity, they wanted to create skincare products that complied with the most stringent of clean beauty standards.
The unisex aspect of Natureofthings allows both men and women to feel comfortable displaying the no-frills, neutrally-designed products on their vanities or bathroom counters. A bare, raw and natural approach to skincare ingredients calls for a simplistic design of the jars that carry them. JP’s goal is for people to engage in a skincare routine that sets a positive tone for the day. Natureofthings helps transform your bathroom into a place of escape, of relaxation, and a meditation of sorts, confidently sending you out the door feeling like the best version of yourself.
Through Natureofthings, JP also hopes to encourage men to take care of themselves. “It’s now acceptable for men to prioritize self-care. Taking care of mental health comes in many forms, one of them being the ritual of wellness and skincare routines,” JP explains. “How can you take care of others if you can’t take care of yourself?”
JP’s daily routine consists of Natureofthings’ everyday staples: cleanse, essence, and moisturize. Kate Collett, JP’s wife, swears by the Reparative Facial Moisturizer (made with moringa seed, açaí palm and mangosteen fruit) and the Clarifying Facial Polish (made with volcanic ash and kisameet glacial clay). The Fortifying Magnesium Soak is truly a magical experience, just ask Denise, it’s made for full body recovery head to toe, it alleviates pain and detoxifies and hydrates the skin.
Counter real estate solved.
